American Job Centers in South Central CT offer training scholarships to eligible jobseekers, backed up with job development and hiring incentives for employers.

HEALTH CAREERS
Tuition assistance, basic skills development & job placement to enter and move up the Health Care career ladder are offered through the Health Careers Advancement Program. Those who complete initial training and find employment may later get help to return to school and add more skills.
Trainings available in the Greater Meriden/Middletown and Greater New Haven areas include Certified Nursing Aid, Phlebotomy, Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Central Sterile Processing Technician.

MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing is essential! Five weeks of training is all it takes to break into this field that is a backbone of the Connecticut economy. Workforce Alliance delivers Skill Up for Manufacturing with our New Haven-area training partners at Gateway Community College and Eli Whitney Tech and our Middletown-area partners at Middlesex Community College and Vinal Tech.
Skill Up includes: Free 5-Week hybrid classroom & hands-on training; Cash stipend during training; Minimum 175 pre-apprenticeship hours; Six Sigma certification; OSHA 10 safety card; and Job development.

ADDICTION SERVICES
Get the guidance and support you need to have a successful career after substance abuse by you or someone you know. A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will work with those unemployed, under-employed or with limited work history through Recovery Works. Emotional support, recovery wellness plans, and community referrals, peer guidance, support groups, one-on-one, and family coaching are offered.
Supports blend with tuition assistance; paid on-the-Job training; transportation, childcare, and other supportive services; and advisement for employment in addiction services and other fields.

SkillUp CT Metrix Learning is an easy digital platform to help you gain the skills you need in the industry you love. Learn how to use games to boost your industry knowledge, and short video clips on how to navigate the site and take courses at your own pace.
